EPIC GAMES AS A COMPANY.

Today we will talk about a company with a lot of boom today: Epic Games.

Founded by Tim Sweeney and originally named "Potomac Computer Systems" in 1991, later renamed Epic MegaGames. Its first game developed and best known was "ZZT" today it is one of the most important video game developers in the industry, as they have not only developed video games such as Gears of War, Fortnite, Shadow Complex and Infinity Blade, shooters such as the Unreal game series, but also developed one of the game engines that has caused the most controversy in the last year: Unreal Engine.

Epic Games has not only contributed numerous video games that we love today, but also contributed their Unreal technology. Each Unreal engine has a full set of physics, sound processing, and graphic rendering features that can be fully tailored to fit the specific needs of a game developer who doesn't want to code their own engine from scratch. This not only refines the production time of the video game, but it encourages all of us to become developers, with the Epic Games Store willing to only obtain 12% of the profits, in addition to the normal reduction of 5% for the games developed on the Unreal Engine.

And why is it that it has caused controversy?

Well, it has happened that Epic Games is in war with Apple, as it withdrew its developer license for iOS and MacOS, risking the development of video games for thousands of software companies, including large ones, such as Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, as some of these even use the Unreal Engine for the development of their own video games.

This began when Epic Games complained that its unfair that the 30% commission which Apple applies to large companies such as Google, Steam and other stores are carried by publishing the games on their platforms.

That commission also applies to micropayments, purchases of in-game coins, which is where all of Epic's income comes from, since games published by Epic like Fortnite are free on other platforms.

Well, Epic developed its own 10% lower payment system for gamers, in the iOS and Android versions of Fortnite, which caused Fortnite to be expelled from Google Play and the Apple App Store.

In my opinion, I like the idea that a large production companies join hands with the gamer community, to give a message to apps for the sale of applications about the importance of having a fair commission on consumption.

This will really take an unexpected turn across the industry, hoping that this will lead to a better community and a good culture. In addition, regulating distribution prices fairly benefits our community, as this generates a greater flow of income for developers to invest in the improvement of a myriad of entertainment elements.
